Discover the Wisdom of Your Resistance for FREE

by Susan Johnstone on July 21, 2010

You WANT to be taking action on your true desires, but you just can’t seem to get past that invisible wall that’s got you stopped.

Maybe random things just keep getting in the way. Maybe you’ve been telling yourself you’re too busy – but that doesn’t make the longing stop.

Or maybe you KNOW you’re sabotaging the very thing you want the most and judging yourself for that is becoming one more reason to avoid it.

Whatever your resistance looks like, you know you simply must get past it if you’re ever going to get to where you really want to be in your life.

And if you’re anything like me, you’ve found that willpower doesn’t work long term – it’s just tiring – and forcing yourself takes all the joy out of something you want to love and not hate everyday.

Get the Skills and Knowledge to Go Past Your Invisible Walls

The Wisdom of Your Resistance is a 5-Week Teleclass program that shows you step-by-step how to track your resistance and enter into a compassionate dialogue with it so you can immediately end the tug of war you’ve been having with yourself.

Your resistance patterns, and all parts of you for that matter, are incredibly wise and with the right training, you can start finding out WHY they’ve been getting in your way so you can give them what they need to get on board and work FOR you.

You’ll be building skills in 6 distinct areas and learning practical techniques you can use anytime, anywhere, to make new choices and keep resistance from taking over.

Plus, you’ll be unlearning a lifetime of judgment and inner criticism and learning brand new positive, heart-centered ways to stay connected to your motivation and desire.

The program includes 5 weekly teleclasses, mp3 recordings and transcripts in case you can’t be there live,  a community support forum, weekly worksheets and pdf guides, a copy of the 15 Minutes to Outsmarting Your Resistance kit and one personal Discovery Session with me.

And you won’t have mountains of homework! This is about doing tiny things through your day that completely transform your inner experience. Our resistance loves to make tasks look like big barriers, so everything will be bite-sized and do-able!

No matter what your obstacles are, you’ll find effective ways to see through them and transform them into good fuel, for progress you can feel great about.

And the brilliant thing about this process is that it’s designed to work even if you’re resisting the program itself!

Personalized Coaching

Whenever you’re dealing with resistance, it’s good to remember that things are being actively hidden and kept buried in your subconscious in order to keep you safe and happy.

That’s why I’m including direct, personal coaching time with me, so you can get straight to the bottom of what’s been blocking you and save yourself years of hunting and struggle.

AND, you’ll have a half-price discount on additional coaching hours for the duration of the 5-week program and for one month after, as well.

Community Support

One of the favorite and most common strategies of resistance is “divide and conquer”. That means your resistance likes it when you’re isolated, cut off from support and thinking you’re the only one who’s feeling this way.

So one of the things I’m the MOST excited about is the community forum that will be a part of this teleclass program.

You’ll be able to get direct feedback from me, but when you get a taste of the support available from the rest of your fellow students that will probably become even more valuable to you.

Together we’ll create a resource for each other filled with wisdom, camaraderie, insight and laughter.

And I’m going to keep it open for an additional month after the program ends so you’ll have a transition time before you start “flying solo” with all your new habits and skills.

Plus, YOU Get to Help Design the Program!

This is the first ever offering of The Wisdom of Your Resistance Teleclass program. And because of that, I’m going to be seeking your input and advice on what you need, what order to do things in and what formats will work best for you.

So you get to help me create the program that will work the very best for you!

What’s the Free Offer?

This is actually a moment I’ve been waiting a long time for. I struggled so long with my own resistance that I had moments when I seriously thought I would never really accomplish anything.

And I know from intimate experience that one of the areas resistance likes to go after is money – making sure the resources are never there to get what you need to move forward.

Now, finally, I have the chance to take that limitation off the table for you.

That’s why I’m offering three scholarships to the readers of this blog. The three lucky winners will get the entire program absolutely free. Winners will be notified two days before the course opens to the Early Bird List that they have won their spot in The Wisdom of Your Resistance teleclass program.

How Can You Get in for Free?

To enter to win a free scholarship, here’s what you need to do. At the bottom of this page, add a comment, and tell me:

I just couldn’t stand seeing that lonely little “0 comments” line below the post, so I had to pop in and kick things off myself! = >
I can’t wait to hear your comments!

What’s your biggest frustration around dealing with resistance and obstacles to your goals and dreams?
– I am impatient

Where would you like to see yourself after The Wisdom of Your Resistance Teleclass program? (You don’t have to give specifics if it feels pretty personal – just tell me in a general way.)
– My goal, of course, is to be resistance free 🙂

3 Susan July 22, 2010 at 3:27 pm

Thanks Mike. And I do have to point out – so you won’t get your hopes up – that as long as you:
a) have a brain, and
b) choose to live
you’ll have resistance! = >

However, the difference is that you can have WAY less of it and you can also be in complete choice about the power you give your resistance and allow it to draw you deeper into desire, motivation and your truest self.

By the way, I’m really enjoying your “15 Minutes to Outsmarting Your Resistance kit” so this course sounds like a great next step.

Yay, you, for overcoming that resistance and jumping in! 🙂

To answer your questions…

* What’s your biggest frustration around dealing with resistance and obstacles to your goals and dreams?

Time & Money – I let both slip away, and I forget to allow for the abundance of both, so that chronic ‘lack’ feeling is starting to creep in again. *ugh*

* Where would you like to see yourself after The Wisdom of Your Resistance Teleclass program? (You don’t have to give specifics if it feels pretty personal – just tell me in a general way.)

Smoothly shipping – our products, our content, our selves (so to speak! :-D)

We have to finish getting CrowTarot Tours set up, then it’s off to our own teaching places of Crafty Crows & Blanket University.

We have a lot to offer the world, and it would be very useful to all if we could start doing that more quickly.

It would be very helpful to identify the ‘whys’ of our resistances more quickly – they usually have something very valuable to tell us, but it takes a long time sometimes for that information to be realized by us. It would be nice to have a quicker process.

And a community of fellow travellers! More blessed than gold. 🙂

Good Fortune & thank you for offering this! 🙂

Great point about the Time & Money Birdy. That’s so easy to do. Thanks for entering!

8 Rae July 22, 2010 at 5:28 pm

What a wonderful opportunity – you are so generous in offering this 🙂

“What’s your biggest frustration around dealing with resistance and obstacles to your goals and dreams?”

I believe I am not good enough. If I get 98% I don’t focus on that, I focus on the 2% I didn’t get. I write To Do lists that are far too long, that I can never achieve so that I can only ever get to 98% or much less so I can beat myself up ad nauseum. The cycle continues and it’s draining me.

“Where would you like to see yourself after The Wisdom of Your Resistance Teleclass program?”

I want to know and feel in my heart that 98% IS enough, that *I* am enough and to celebrate my achievements. At the moment I achieve something and I’m immediately onto the next thing. I never stop to smell the roses, to give myself a pat on the back or reward myself because I never learned to do it.
I am confident if I could do this, it would have a knock on effect on the rest of my life – more energy, better self esteem, belief in myself and, most importantly, more pleasure. If I could FEEL PLEASURE and a sense of reward rather than beating myself up for the 2% I didn’t do right, it would change my life.

9 Susan July 22, 2010 at 10:48 pm

Thank you for this Rae! I’m so touched by your honesty and I lived a lot of my life in that exact place you just described.
What I know now is…we are already enough, even at 0%!

That’s one of the reasons I LOVE the doorway of working with resistance – when we can soften that, we can soften ALL the judgment too! = >

10 Kelly July 22, 2010 at 6:17 pm

1) My biggest frustration is trying to distinguish between fear-based resistance and intuitive resistance. When is the resistance actually warning me that I’m moving away from my goal (like a compass) and when is the resistance just fear in disguise? What is my resistance trying to tell me? Do you keep pushing or is it more of a dissolving process? I want to decode the subtleties of the messages.

2) I would like to see myself in a more compassionate relationship with my desires and my resistance and be able to make more powerful, intuitive decisions based on my new skills that allow me to dialogue with them.

Thanks for this opportunity, Susan! It sounds like it will be an amazing course.

11 Susan July 22, 2010 at 10:50 pm

Great question Kelly! It’s the most common one I get – and we’ll definitely be digging into this in the class.

12 Lisa July 22, 2010 at 8:59 pm

Hi Susan!

My biggest frustration is that my resistance keeps me from making progress on all the awesome stuff I want to do for my business.

I would like (no LOVE) to see my production machine whirring smoothly, with me behind the wheel not being afraid of all that stuff I’m afraid of now. 🙂

You rock, woman – that’s all I have to say 🙂

13 Susan July 22, 2010 at 10:52 pm

Thanks Lisa! And that’s a fabulous vision. I’m holding it with you.
= >

14 Beth July 22, 2010 at 11:00 pm

My biggest frustration is how hard it is to get myself to sit still and work with the resistance. I’ve learned a lot about it in the past year, and have gained a lot of great tools — but do I use them? Not nearly as often as would be useful. I still mostly just skitter off.

So that’s where I’d like to be at the end: able to apply the tools I know and consciously interact with myself.

15 Susan July 23, 2010 at 12:39 pm

Thanks Beth! You’re right, sitting down and doing it has barriers all it’s own. When I read your comment it made me think of a time when I was sitting 10 inches from my manual with my current practices in it and couldn’t make myself open it! = >

I hear you!

16 LaVonne Ellis July 22, 2010 at 11:10 pm

My biggest frustration [fear] is that I won’t be able to find the words I want to say, so I resist writing the content I need for my business.

I would love for the words to flow freely whenever I want them to. That would be heaven.

Thank you for your generous offer. 🙂

17 Susan July 25, 2010 at 8:09 pm

Thanks LaVonne! I know that one well too. We often can’t see the very things we’re imposing on our own process that are gumming up the works, or at the very least making it way less enjoyable.

18 Nathara July 23, 2010 at 3:19 am

“What is your biggest frustration…?”
I worry that not only am I not good enough, but I’ll never be good enough for success. That I have all these skills, this knowledge, this information and all of it is completely wasted on me because I’ll never be able to fulfill the potential that was handed to me because I’m just not good enough. I’m also worried that the wonderful people in my life would flee if I ever reveal any of my humanness, and revealing my fears of not being good enough DOES count as a fault in and of itself, so I’m scared to admit to it, too. Whew!

“Where would you like to see yourself…”
I would like to be able to fully access the skills and knowledge that I have while freely being able to admit my faults and weaknesses without trying to hide them all the time. I want to be able to share, give, and receive from other people without being fearful. I would like to be able to give of myself freely and know that whoever is receiving will not be diminished by the gift.

LOL – I suppose that’s all very dramatic, but I’ve been really trying to identify some of this stuff lately!

19 Susan July 23, 2010 at 12:42 pm

Thank you for being willing to share that here Nathara. It might seem dramatic to say it “out loud”, but this big stuff is what so many of us are carrying around, we just don’t always know it like you do.
Glad you’re here!

20 Nathara July 25, 2010 at 7:40 pm

I’m trying to identify it! I have no doubt there are other little fear monsters hanging around, though. And thank you so much for having me.

21 Iain Gray July 23, 2010 at 1:21 pm

“What’s your biggest frustration around dealing with resistance and obstacles to your goals and dreams?”

That I know I’m using about 15% of what I’m capable of at full throttle.

Where would you like to see yourself after The Wisdom of Your Resistance Teleclass program?

I’d like to be able to spot when resistance is happening a lot quicker, and understand the real reasons behind it so that I can ust work with it in the background rather than getting mired.

22 Susan July 25, 2010 at 8:11 pm

Thanks Iain, that’s a great one. I think a lot of us who are aware of our resistance are really aware of it because we actually have a sense of our own full potential and the waste of that really wears on us.

Thanks for entering!

23 Laura July 24, 2010 at 1:06 pm

This is AWESOME!!!! You go girl!

“What’s your biggest frustration…..”

“money – making sure the resources are never there to get what you need to move forward” – This is definitely my BIGGEST frustration! The minute I start taking steps to get myself out there the money disappears – the bills pile up, the systems to be really effective aren’t in place, and I scramble in survival mode, which of course prevents me from getting me and my business out into the world effectively, efficiently, and passionately.

“Where would you like to see yourself …..” I would LOVE to stop being afraid of my own power, letting my resistance drag me around by the nose, and get myself out into the world!

You are inspirational and a guiding, shining light!

24 Susan July 25, 2010 at 8:13 pm

Thanks Laura. Takes one to know one. = >

I really hear you on the money thing. That’s why this contest is so dear to me. I was on that merry-go-round for years.

25 Sang-gye July 26, 2010 at 7:47 am

Biggest hang-up? Self-pity, “I can’t do this”, “It’s not worth it” or as so many others have already shared “I am not worth it.” I hit my resistance head on earlier this year and I am still not even recovering, but keep banging my head against the same wall, checking out instead of being present.

Where would I want to be afterward? Maybe a little bit more courageous (to stay present), more joyful (to not dread the experience), and connected to the source of my life.

Much love to all of you.

26 Susan July 26, 2010 at 2:07 pm

Thanks Sang-gye. Those are definitely the “biggies” and then we make them even bigger with by adding our judgments over top.
Glad you’re here!

27 Maureen Carruthers July 26, 2010 at 8:52 am

Hi Susan,

So much great stuff here already! I’ve got some of the frustrations I’ve seen already (esp. the knowing if resistance is there as a good warning, or as a mental block). I also would like help remembering what its like to move forward when I’m in a slow or blocked place. Once I get stuck it’s hard for me to remember that I was ever the sort of person who moves forward and accomplishes things.

When the class is done I’d like to be able to move forward and be gentle with myself–at the same time.

28 Eva July 26, 2010 at 8:55 am

Hello there, thanks for opportunity to leave a note. I have always been baffled by my personal resistance, and have always noted it as a little something deep inside that keeps me from moving forward. I struggle with the lack of connection of it to my otherwise desire to move forward, do new things, take on new challenges, accomplish my goals. It has always been a bit of a mystery to me. The one area that really baffles me is weight. Intellectually I know why I should exercise and be healthly. But it is a constant move two steps forward and three back. Also I am a cancer survivor and am know feeling that I should be moving more forward after being given the gift of health once again. I would really love to attend your sessions. Have a wonder-filled day.

29 Susan July 26, 2010 at 2:11 pm

That’s a great point Eva! Our brain likes to keep the source of our deepest resistance completely hidden from us so it does seem very mysterious and baffling.

And when our goal makes SO much sense, like you’re saying about the health and weight goal for you, we’re just stumped about why on earth we would resist something so good for us.

I guarantee there’s a really wise reason underneath and I’d love to help you find it!

30 S Miller July 26, 2010 at 10:11 am

My biggest frustration?

The need to keep my dream bigger than the obstacles so progress can continue to be made. Sometimes my view seems full of obstacles and not the dream, goal or vision. My frustration is the front and centre position that resistance or obstacles seem to take in my life. I realize of course that I put them there and that is the frustration.

Where I would like to be after?

Being able to focus more consistently on my dream and have the obstacles on the side lines if not kicked into the ditch. I want to be energized with my dream to the extent that the obstacles are not my focus.

31 Susan July 26, 2010 at 2:16 pm

That’s so true! I used to do that as well, let the obstacles and the view of them completely take over.

That’s one of the first things we’re going to work on is writing a whole new story for your journey that puts your struggle in a powerful context and the obstacles in proper perspective.

32 Yvonne July 26, 2010 at 2:53 pm

I have suspected self-sabotage for a while, and just realized, through doing some body-talk therapy, that the resistance is my ego is hanging onto pain to prove that I was hard done by in the past. This has manifested as a repeating pattern of feeling pushed (from within or without), isolated and unsupported, which results in trying sooo hard and exhausting myself.

Where would i like to be? In a new paradigm of social interaction.

33 Susan July 26, 2010 at 9:54 pm

That’s great Yvonne! It sounds like you’ve been doing some really great digging! That will put you in a great position here to work with the stuff you’ve been discovering.

I’m glad you’re here!

34 Jannette Anderson July 26, 2010 at 5:00 pm

? I’m tired of not doing what I know will make me successful. I can help others past thier resistance – but not myself.

? I would love to be productively moving my various goals forward, creating rewarding partnerships that support both accountability and action and having a lot of fun easily doing what I know will make my businesses thrive!

35 Susan July 26, 2010 at 9:57 pm

Oh, yes, Jannette. It’s ALWAYS easier to see another’s resistance than our own. Our brain is actively working to keep ours hidden from us, that’s why support and community makes all the difference when we start to work with it!

Thanks so much for your entry!
